What makes the picturesque coastal district of Tofino special, as a Solar Community, is their abundant sunshine during the summer months. And because of Tofino's thriving tourist season, there is great potential energy and cost savings, through the use of solar hot water systems by accommodation providers.
The designation of the district as a SolarBC community will be a building block in a larger Community Energy Plan, as will the development of workshops to educate and build awareness, municipal incentives and installation, installations on affordable housing.
