Grand Forks Solar Days
The Grand Forks Solar Days events was a roaring success, from the open house tours to the kids Solar cars races, which according to one event organizer, Councillor Joy Davies, were very creatively put together. She said both Councillor Chris Moslin and Paul Pinard had a blast working with the kids and teachers at the two elementary schools, Hutton & Perley in creating the solar race cars and putting on the races.
"I'm grateful to see our community so committed to improving our environment," says Davies. "The Solar Days Festival exposure is bound to have the same expression of interest by the community."
As well, she said the Vancouver Canucks donated close to $1000 in Canucks merchandise which was well received by all the children. Mayor Taylor was also very supportive of Solar Energy initiatives in his speech at our opening ceremonies.
The businesses that participated in the Trade Show were very happy with the large turnout of the public and the public's interest in their Solar products.
"This to me is what Economic Development is about," says Davies, about the event. "A city council being progressive & acting 'outside of the box' to encourage business expansion and development and engaging its community by providing them a venue to be heard and then acting on their recommendations. Thank you for the opportunity to be part of the solution to a cleaner environment."
