Delta
Remembering the Past While Considering the Future
With a rich farming and agricultural history, Delta has grown into three thriving communities: Ladner, Tsawwassen and North Delta. Delta is a vibrant community that is rich in soil and water, rich in history and industry and especially rich in people that pride themselves on their growing sustainability.
Delta installed a solar hot water system on the Municipal Hall in February 2009. The installation includes a display in the building entrance that shows the temperature of water entering and leaving the solar hot water system. Delta estimates that over 60% of the Municipal Hall’s hot water is provided by the solar hot water system. Data from this initial installation will be used to prioritize other municipal buildings for SHW installations. In addition, Delta plans to estimate the number of solar roofs already installed in the community and use the data to develop achievable solar targets for the municipality.
Delta will promote the use of solar hot water in a number of way including: using the municipal installation as a demonstration project, holding an information session for builders and developers, providing solar information with building and development permits and presenting SolarBC rebates and related financial incentives on their website.
