Become a Registered Installer
How to be part of the SolarBC team
SolarBC is currently accepting applications to become a registered installer under our program for local service organizations located in Fort St. John, Tofino, Whistler, Dawson Creek and other specific areas. For more information about this, please contact 1-877-650-6527.
Please note: SolarBC does not train or certify contractors. If you are interested in CanSIA certification, please visit their website at www.cansia.ca, or visit our training opportunities web page for more information.
To become a SolarBC Registered Installer, a SolarBC application has to be completed. As a part of the application you are required to:
1) Have at least one Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA) certified installer on staff.
2) Use a system that is already registered on the SolarBC program, or
3) Use a system that is certified to CSAF379.1, or
4) Provide an engineers drawing of your system, to be reviewed against the CSAF379.1 standards and sealed by SolarBC’s independent engineer (Stantec).
Applications will be evaluated on the basis of technical capability, experience and proven track record, capacity, quality assurance, risk management, health and safety, customer care and support, environmental policies and pricing.
(Northern Lights College is currently providing the two-day classroom theory to become CanSIA certified, in conjunction with the fall safety course. Applications will be evaluated on the basis of technical capability, experience and proven track record, capacity (including other commitments), quality assurance (including risk management), health and safety, customer care and support, environmental policies and pricing. SolarBC reserve the right to reject applications and will endeavour to notify applicants of results within two weeks from receipt of their submission. SolarBC is not bound to register systems onto the program, reserves the right to seek expressions of interest directly from manufacturers and makes no representations or commitments as to the number of systems that will be registered onto the program.
Following the application process, all registered contractors and systems will be listed on the SolarBC website.
