There are currenlty five programs under the SolarBC program

Households

SolarBC Registered Installers will provide you with a $2,000 discount at the point of sale of your solar hot water system and we'll also help you take advantage of potentially a further $1375 in incentives available from the Federal ecoEnergy Retrofit and the Provincial LiveSmart BC programs.

Builders and Developers

The new homes program is currently underway. $2,000 discount is available through SolarBC towards the cost of installing solar hot water systems. Find out how you can reduce your carbon footprint while greatly reducing monthly operating costs as a homeowner.

Local Governments

Any municipality located in B.C. which, qualifies for a financial incentive for the installation of a solar water system under the federal ecoENERGY for Renewable Heat program is eligible for the SolarBC program. Currently the Delta Municipal Hall and the Quesnel Recreational Centre have installed solar hot water, with the Nanaimo Transportation Administration Builidng recently approved for funding.

Schools

SolarBC officially congratulates the 23 BC schools, from Invermere to 150 Mile House, which have successfully met and passed the criteria to receive funding for installation of solar hot water systems on the schools. The applications were reviewed by a committee comprised of staff from the Ministry of Education and SolarBC.

Social Housing

SolarBC’s Social Housing program is funded by the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resourses and delivered in cooperation with Natural Resources Canada’s federal ecoENERGY for Renewable Heat program. This collaboration provides a one-stop service to B.C. applicants who plan to install a qualifying solar water system at an eligible property. For social housing providers, SolarBC incentive matches the ecoENERGY for Renewable Heat incentive to a maximum of $40,000.

First Nations

SolarBC recognizes that First Nations have different rights and operate in a different context than non-Aboriginal communities. We also understand the lack of coordinated support that exists for First Nations who want to install solar technology and other efficient and renewable systems

PSECA

Under the Public Sector Energy Conservation Agreement (PSECA) the BC Government is working with SolarBC to fund solar thermal water and air heating systems in provincial public sector buildings, including schools, universities, colleges, hospitals and Crown Corporations.
