The threat of climate change is real and the commitment to reduce our net totals of greenhouse gas emissions is deepening. Rising gas prices, severe weather outbreaks and related power outages cause people to think about personal and global energy security issues. By design, the introduction of the carbon tax challenges individuals to seek out ways to reduce their dependency on fossil fuels in all aspects of their lifestyle, and seek out ‘alternative’ energy sources. In the heating and cooling industry, this search is leading to solar and geothermal renewable energy. This workshop will:
- Provide an introduction to how solar and geothermal systems work
- Outline the basic requirements for these systems and relevant building type
- Identify government initiatives and grant programs available to support the installation of these renewable heat systems, such as SolarBC, LiveSmart BC and ecoENERGY Renewable Heat.
Relevant to owners of all building types.

Admission is free, but space is limited. Please pre-register, by contacting Jayne Rossworn at 250-381-9995 or email: community@citygreen.ca
