This 36 hour course covers the basic skills and fundamentals of solar thermal technology. Students will learn how to: identify solar thermal components; conduct steps in a solar site analysis; ensure safe practices and risk management; identify systems for specific climates; and determine methods to install and maintain systems. Through a series of lectures and hands-on solar labs, students will have acquired the foundation needed for entry-level in the field of solar thermal and domestic hot water heating.
This course will be of interest to installers, pipefitters, engineers, inspectors, and do-it-yourselfer’s considering their own installation.
This course is based on the training requirements identified by the NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) Entry Level Task Analysis.
