T'Sou-ke First Nations is New SolarBC Solar Community

The T'Sou-ke Solar Gathering was in celebration of the results of their solar visioning process

SolarBC is proud to recognize the T'Souke First Nations as our eighth SolarBC Solar Community, an announcement made earlier in July during the First Nations' Solar Gathering. According to Ellen Perkins, who was in attendance at the open house, which showcased the recent solar hot water and PV installs in the community that make up a 75 KW solar array, it was an inspirational gathering.

"My favourite moment was seeing all of their panels from a fork lifter they had brought to take individuals up into the air for a better view," she said.

Among those who attended the Solar Gathering were members of the Ministry of Environment, Western Economic Diversification Canada, Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, School District 62, BCSEA's Guy Dauncey and Minister of Aboriginal & Reconciliations, George Abbot.

The First Nations has been a leading community in the implementation of solar energy, and this along with their dedication to teaching other First Nations' about the technology is one of the main reasons behind their new role with SolarBC.
