Solar Cooker Contest for Solar Days
The Ministry of Environment is hosting a Solar Days Contest for the month of May!
Get a team together, build a solar cooker and test it during the month of May and your cooker could win a Hybrid Solar Charger for electronic devices for your office, donated by SolarBC. (Works with GPS, IPod, MP3, phone, PDA, headphones)
(Submissions due Monday May 24)
Winning cooker will excel in the following categories:
- Most recycled content in the construction of the solar cooker
- Best looking cooker design
- Most interesting food cooked
- Fastest cooking time
- Register your team by emailing Gillian.Henuset@gov.bc.ca for more details
Ministry of Environment will be hosting a lunch hour livemeeting in Victoria to announce the winners on May 28th.

- Read the Solar Cooker How-To
- Google "Solar Cookers" and choose a design to be created by your office
- Build your Solar Cooker as an office team
- When weather permits during the month of May (prior to May 24), test your cooker by cooking food in it
- Document your results achieved (cooking time, taste of food)
- Photograph your cooker, cooked results, and office group who built the cooker and those who participated in taste-test as well as how your cooker matches the 4 criteria and send to Gillian.Henuset@gov.bc.ca
