“Solar Leader of the Year” Sadly Missed
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dawson Creek Mayor Calvin Kruk. Calvin was a stalwart champion of the solar program in British Columbia and did his utmost to support solar initiatives in this province. As the co-chair of the 100,000 Solar Roofs Project, he lead the solar team and presented the findings to government.
He was recognized as the "Solar Leader of the Year" by the Canadian Solar Industries Association in 2007 — an award that he well deserved. His leadership was one of the reasons that Dawson Creek was selected to launch the SolarBC Program and I know that he was very proud that Dawson Creek was selected as a Solar Community at UBCM.
Personally, I will remember Calvin's cheerful smile and his willingness to jump in and help wherever he could. He will be well remembered and missed by all of us who have worked with him. We extend our condolences to his family and friends.
